How to distinguish a silk dress

When people buy back beautiful silk dresses, it is very bad if they are found to be counterfeit by others. To avoid this situation, we require everyone to develop a pair of keen eyes. When choosing a silk dress, learn the following methods: choose a genuine silk dress that highlights your noble and elegant temperament.

1. Observe the gloss. Lay the dress flat and observe its appearance. Silk generally has the function of absorbing light. The silk dress has a soft and even luster, which looks smooth and not mirror like. The luster is elegant and soft, presenting a pearl like luster. Artificial silk fabrics have a bright but not soft luster, while polyester fibers have a uniform luster but some shine or shine. Nylon silk fabrics have poor luster, like being coated with a layer of wax.

2. Feel it by hand. The silk dress feels like it’s scraping to the touch, and there is a rustling sound when rubbing against both sides. Artificial silk fabrics are smooth and soft, while cotton silk fabrics have a soft touch.

3. There are no creases. High quality silk has good elasticity and will not leave creases after folding. Artificial silk fabrics will leave obvious creases and are difficult to restore. Nylon silk fabric recovers creases slowly.

4. Test fiber tension. A few fibers can be extracted from the edge of a silk dress for tensile testing. Wet the fibers with your tongue. If the wet area is prone to tearing, it is a synthetic silk dress, while real silk does not.

5. Burning discrimination. Extract a portion of the silk for combustion testing. After burning, there is no visible flame and there is a smell of burnt hair, forming black particles that can be crushed by hand.

6. Product identification. In China, silk and satin products implement a unified five digit product number. The first digit is 1 representing pure silk fabric, 2 representing synthetic fiber fabric, 3 representing blended fabric, tussah silk fabric is 4, and synthetic silk fabric is 5.

7. Price identification. The price of real silk is usually about twice that of counterfeit goods, and those “real silk dresses” that look very cheap at first glance must depend on the situation.
